HANDCRAFTED
POTTERY
EARTH, SUN AND FIRE HAVE THE LAST SAY ON EVERY FORM
"Do not walk away, come closer. Do not lose faith, stay true. Find the antidote within the poison. Reach the root of the root of your own being.
Molded in clay, yet kneaded with the substance of certainty; guardian of the Treasure of the Sacred Light... come, return to the root of the root of your Being."
— Mevlâna Jalâluddîn Rumi
Each piece is a testament to skill, passion, and craftsmanship
Wild Local Clay
I forage local clays to explore texture and the limits of fired earth.
Some are used alone, others blended together or with certified stoneware for strength and balance.
Foraged Glazes
I gather rocks, mica, quartz, and natural iron and copper oxides from the surrounding mountains.
They melt, mark, and settle into the surface—creating depth that cannot be repeated.
Custom Orders
Custom pieces are accepted.
The process remains wild—form and surface are guided, not controlled.
Behind Tierra y Fuego ceramica
The Story of the Pieces: Origin in Every Step
Each piece begins on the paths surrounding my workshop where I seek colors and textures from my land. I collect wild clays, iron-rich rocks, micas, and feldspars during my walks and from my own fields. It is a slow process: grinding the rocks by hand, filtering them, and conduct endless mixing and firing tests until I find a glaze that is both safe and predictable.
I do this because I need to feel connected to the ground I walk on. In my decorative pieces, I want nature to have the last word: I allow two rocks to interact at a precise point, to melt, to drip, or to create organic textures like bubbles and cracks. They are the living language of the landscape manifesting through ceramics.
From the Field to the Table
For my functional pieces, the process is just as intentional but more predictable. I use a transparent, food-safe glaze created from the ashes of our annual pruning: wood from our olive, pine, and almond trees transformed into a smooth finish that protects the piece, closing the life cycle of our own land.
The Origin of Tierra y Fuego: Transforming Limitation into Discovery
TyF Cerámica was born from a need for reconnection. Following the onset of an aggressive cancer and a rare disease that brought chronic pain and physical limitations, clay appeared first as a refuge and, shortly after, as a teacher.
What began as a way to inhabit the present became a craft that taught me to rediscover time, the earth, and my own body. These limitations, far from being a wall, became a creative engine: they showed me boundless human capacity: when we learn to create from our perceived reality.
Today, each piece is a testament to that freedom reclaimed through fire and matter.
Local Alchemy in Sax
My workshop is nourished by the landscape that surrounds it. I dedicate myself to creating ceramic vessels with organic shapes where aesthetics and functionality converge. The process is one of absolute honesty:
-
My materials: I work with pure wild clay, blends with traditional stoneware, or pure stoneware, always seeking the most authentic texture.
-
My glazes: the result of years of foraging in Sax (Alicante). Rocks, oxides, micas, silicas and feldspars collected from our surroundings to create unique coatings. No two are alike.
-
My technique: each formula is the result of a rigorous process of grinding, testing, and refining to ensure high quality and safety without losing the wild essence of the material.
